Anjelica Huston has long been a style icon for me. Like many of my generation, my first introduction to her was as a child watching The Witches over and over again – it never gets tired, right? Of course I didn’t really know who she was when I was eight, but I knew there was something about the Grand High Witch’s appeal that transcended the grotesqueness of the part. She had a commanding presence. And was dressed damned fine for a witch! Now, as an adult, I love her wider work as an actor, but I also draw lots of inspiration from her style, both past and present. Her success as a model combined with her glamorous Hollywood lifestyle cemented her reputation as a fashion muse early in her career – I have a particular penchant for 1970s Anjelica (one of my favourite vintage eras, especially the 30s-revival that happened during this decade). Such imposing elegance. And the pictures of her and Jack Nicholson together? My my.
